Is your doctor board certified?

As advocates and smart consumers of medical services, let's make a New Years resolution to check the American Board Medical Specialties (ABMS) and find out if your physicians are board certified.

Another great resolution would be to advise the specific board that certified your physician if necessary.

"Bad doctors" really should not continue to practice with a board certification. I think it is long past time for agencies issuing board certifications (and expecting the public to rely on those certifications) to take action against "bad doctors."

There are many good doctors out there. There are also many "bad doctors." And in the impending political environment where the Obama administration promises changes to the medical care system, we (as consumers of medical services) should make doggone sure that lobbying organizations (like the AMA) aren't the only consideration.
