Tracking political contributions of "bad doctors"

Generally, I am a firm believer in supporting the United States political process. However, I am suspicious of people who donate to a political organization or candidate in order to promote themselves or their personal agenda.

Chris Dangles, M.D. has the following donation history:
02-12-2008: $500 to the Illinois State Medical Society Political Action Committee
02-04-2008: $250 to PAC of American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons
01-31-2007: $250 to PAC of American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons
01-26-2007: $250 to Bob Corker for United States Senate (TN)

Hmmm, why would an Illinois orthopedic surgeon who has had multiple medical malpractice lawsuits filed against him support a Tennessee candidate for United States Senate? Corker's issue statement includes:

1. commitment to encouraging states to reform medical liability laws; and
2. support of noneconomic damages caps on medical negligence cases.
