How have you handled "bad doctors"?

Technorati Profile

I welcome any suggestions or your stories regarding the broad issue of "dealing with bad doctors." Medical malpractice lawsuits are timely and expensive. Moreover, if you are the injured patient, you are placed in the unenviable position of having to find a third party doctor to agree to go into court to testify that your were injured by another doctor.

Ideally, if you found a doctor to "correct" the negligent doctor's mistakes, that actual treating doctor should want to be your advocate and testify in court for you. The treating doctor should be so appalled at a colleague's maltreatment of you that he would want to see the negligent doctor held accountable. But, in my experience, good doctors just don't want to get involved.

Should injured patients just "forgive and forget"? Let me know what your experiences in that regard have been?

Should injured patients contact the medical board and report the doctor? Has anyone had any success with that avenue?

I'm interested in knowing about other people's experiences. Perhaps we can be of support to each other.
